Fayetteville Lions Club Fundraising Projects

Most of the outstanding Service Projects conducted by the Fayetteville Lions require funds. The club tries its best to conduct fundraisers where the public can donate to our very good works, but at the same time get something of value in return. 100% of the money earned through Lion fundraising projects is spent for our service projects. Our administrative expenses are funded entirely from Lions member dues, fees and fines.

Our Fundraisers:
Apple Day Sale & Roadblock
Football & Basketball Concessions

Sports Program Ads

Bass Tournament
Really Big Coloring Books
Donations

Apple Day Sales & Roadblock. Each year in the month of November, the club sells apples, by the case, half case or dozen, to local businesses and organizations.

Our commercial sales options:

Apple Quantity Price (2009)
Case (88 count) $45.00
1/2 Case (44 count) $22.50
Dozen $10.00

The sale period is culminated with a "Roadblock" collection at high traffic intersections throughout Fayetteville on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Passing motorist are provided a shiny red apple in exchange for the donation of their choice.

Football and Basketball Tournament Concessions & Gate. The annual Football Jamboree in August and Basketball Tournament later each Fall are both conducted primarily as a service to the local 7th - 9th grade schools.  But the Lions also use the opportunity to collect some monies for our service project funds. This includes profits over costs for the concession stand at both events, and also profit above operating expenses from entrance gate fees at the basketball tournament. (For the Football Jamboree, all gate receipts in excess of our costs to conduct the Jamboree, are returned to the participating schools.)

Tournament Gate Entrance Fees (no charge for participants and coaches):

Tournament Gate Price (2008)
Football Jamboree $5.00 at gate; $4 presale from school
Basketball Tournament (per day) $5.00

Sports Program Ads.  In the Spring and Summer of each year the Lions sell program "ads" to local businesses and organizations (individual ads are also welcome).  These ads are printed in a sports program that is distributed to all attendees of our Football Jamboree and Basketball Tournament. The donor can provide their own ad copy.

Our options:

Ad Size Price
Full Page $200.00
1/2 Page $100.00
1/4 Page $50.00
1/8 Page $25.00

Fayetteville Lions "Fishing for Sight" Open Bass Tournament. The Lions introduced a new and exciting fundraiser in 2010. It is held in the Spring at the Winchester Tim's Ford Bass Club on Tims Ford Reservoir.  There is a large cash prize for the winner ($1,000 in 2010), random drawings for a variety of outdoor sporting products as well as a $500 cash prize, and plenty of fun for all.

Click here for more details, directions, a brochure, rules, entry forms and photos from the 2010 Tournament!

Mop, Broom & Light Bulb Sales. The Lions have traditionally sold mops, brooms and light bulbs door-to-door in the Spring and Fall.  Due to the changing times, we find this less effective, so we now sell these items at various forums and locations throughout the year.  We will make public announcements of these sales.

We maintain a stock of mops, brooms and lightbulbs year round to be able to respond to community members. We would be happy to sell these to any business or individual at any time.  Just contact Don Woodruff, (931) 433-3703 or Marshall Arney, (931) 438-2742, our MB&LB Committee Co-Chairs, or any Lion Club Member.  Finally, we also maintain a small supply of mops and brooms at two businesses on the Fayetteville Square:

  • Carter's Drug Store, 106 S. Elk Ave. (East Side of Square)
  • Magnolia Mall Antiques, 121 S. Main Ave (West Side of Square)

By the way, when you buy our products you are making a double contribution to the Lions mission. Our high quality products are manufactured in facilities that employ mentally and physically challenged adults. The mops and brooms come from the Cornelia Broom Co. in North Georgia.

Our merchandise includes:

Item Price
Heavy Brooms (Business or Outdoor) $10.00
Standard Brooms (Household) $8.00
Large Mops (string type, 24oz) $8.00
